Meta Business Verification is a process that confirms your company or organization is legitimate. Not every WhatsApp Business account must complete it. You only need verification in specific situations, such as migrating your number, raising messaging limits, applying for an Official Business Account, or adding more than two phone numbers to your WhatsApp Business API account.
When verification is required
You will need to complete Meta Business Verification if you:
- Migrate your phone number to ChatMaven (or another Business Solution Provider) as your BSP
- Raise your messaging limits so you can reach more customers
- Apply for a WhatsApp Official Business Account (green checkmark)
- Use more than two phone numbers on your WhatsApp Business API account
What you need before you start
Admin access
You must be an Admin in your Meta Business Manager (MBM) to start and complete the verification process.
Business information
Fill out the Business Information section in Meta Business Manager before submitting. Your legal business name, address, phone number, email, and website should match the documents you upload. Inconsistent details can delay or block approval.
Supporting documents
Meta will ask for documents that support your business name, address, and contact details. Prepare at least two or three of the following:
| Document | Use |
|---|---|
| Business license | Confirms legal name and business address |
| Certificate of Incorporation | Confirms legal name and business address |
| Utility bill | Confirms business phone number |
Details on these documents must match exactly what you entered in the Business Info section of Meta Business Manager. Government and public agencies use the same types of documents.
Steps to complete Meta verification
- Log in to your Facebook account. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner and switch to your business page profile.
- In the left panel, open Meta Business Suite.
- In the bottom-left sidebar, click the Settings icon. On the settings page, open Business Info.
- Confirm your legal business name, address, and phone number exactly match your official documents. Edit any incorrect details before proceeding.
- In the left sidebar, open Security Centre. In Business Verification, click Continue to start the official process.
- Select your business type (for example Private company, Corporation, or Sole proprietorship), then click Next.
- Enter your official business tax ID or registration number, then provide your organization address and confirm the business phone number.
- Meta shows a list of registered businesses. Select the one that matches your details.
- Choose how to confirm your connection. In this flow, use Identity verification with government-issued ID.
- Select the ID type (for example a National ID card) and upload a clear photo of the ID card.
- Click Submit to complete identity verification.
- Meta reviews the submission and typically shares an update within about 48 hours.
If your verification is rejected
Rejection often happens when:
- Organization details are missing or incorrect
- Uploaded documents are unclear or unreadable
- Information on the documents does not match what you entered in Business Info
What to do:
- Go to the Security Center and read the reason given for rejection.
- Update your Business Information so it matches your documents exactly.
- Resubmit with corrected or additional documents if needed. Meta’s accepted document types and reasons your business cannot be verified are described in their help center.
Display name review
After your business is verified, Meta will start a display name review for the phone numbers linked to your account. The display name is the business name customers see on your WhatsApp profile.
Meta usually requires your account to reach the 1k messaging tier (about 125 messages in a 7-day rolling period) before your display name can be approved.
You will get an email and an MBM notification with the display name result, usually within 1–2 days. For naming rules and best practices, see Meta’s display name guidelines. Using your real brand or business name improves the chance of approval.
If your display name is rejected
Use a name that clearly represents your brand or business and follows Meta’s display name guidelines. Avoid generic or misleading terms.
FAQ and troubleshooting
I don’t see the “Start Verification” button
Make sure your Meta Business Manager profile is complete:
- Go to Meta Business Manager.
- Enter your legal name, address, website, and business phone number.
After these fields are filled, the Start Verification option should appear in the Security Center.
What’s the difference between Meta Business Manager and Meta Business Suite?
Both are Meta tools, but they do different things:
- Meta Business Manager (MBM) – Manages users, permissions, and security for your business account. It holds your Facebook Pages, Instagram profiles, ad accounts, and other assets.
- Meta Business Suite (MBS) – Used for day-to-day marketing and messaging: posts, ads, comments, DMs, and insights. You can switch between MBM and MBS from business.facebook.com; Meta’s help article on switching to MBM explains how.
